What can participants expect to experience?

Young Adult Retreat is a weekend focusing on reflecting, exploring and building your faith as an adult so that you can deepen your relationship with God and reflect on his purpose in your life.

Participant choice is important. To facilitate this, there will be various levels of participation options, including various on-site and off-site activities happening. This retreat is focused on responding to the needs and requests of those attending to ensure that the weekend is useful and enjoyable. Another key aspect of the camp is the ability to get away from it all and take time out to worship and reflect on your own faith journey. It is an opportunity for young Adults (18-25) to meet other young Adults from around the Diocese and talk about issues that matter to you.

The weekend will also feature awesome worship time, some fun, challenging and crazy-fun activities and lots of opportunities to reflect and discuss what God is calling you to in the world.

Who can attend the camp?

Anyone aged 18 to 35. Exceptions are made where a participant has finished year 12, has not yet turned 18 but is turning 18 this year.

Who runs the retreat?

Our Young Adult Retreat for 2018 is being directed by Scott and Sarah Windred. They are supported by a number of guest speakers, young adult ministry leaders, and Jonathan Kemp (Director of Youth, Children’s and Families Ministry) and Erica Skerman (Diocesan Camps Coordinator).

What is the cost?

The total cost to attend is $180. This includes food, accommodation, and electives for the weekend.

How do participants register?

Registrations are open and can be found online at www.aycf.org.au/camping/registration/

Registration closes Friday 26th January 2018.

How safe is the retreat?

All care is taken to prevent injuries and illness on retreat, but sometimes accidents happen.  For all activities, on and off site, there will be a designated first aid officer accompanying each group. Should anything happen, we will apply first aid as required and if warranted travel to Accident and Emergency, or call an Ambulance. We will make every effort to speak to the emergency contacts as soon as possible. Our camps are drug and alcohol free events (including cigarettes) which applies to everyone. If you think this is going to be an issue, please contact us as soon as possible to discuss it.

How can my Parish or School support the Young Adult Retreat?

Your Parish or School can support the Young Adult Retreat in a number of ways.

·       By promoting it. You can find promotional material on this website, or Contact Us for more hard copies.

·       By sponsoring participants. Many of the participants of past AYCF camps and events have been sponsored by their Parish in whole or part. Some Parishes sponsor participants from local schools or other parishes.

·       By making a donation to AYCF. AYCF camps and events are not run to make a profit, but we aim to cover costs. Donations help us keep the price down. Please contact Erica on (07) 3514 7412 for more information.

What time does it start and finish?

Camp Check-in on the Friday night opens at 5pm. The retreat officially kicks off at 7pm on Friday and finishes at 3pm Sunday.

What do I need to bring?

Once you’ve registered, you will be sent more information, including a list of what to bring and what not to bring.

Do participants need to be Anglican or Christian?

No – there is no requirement for participants to be Anglican or Christian. There will be Christian input and worship throughout the retreat. Participants are expected to respect the faith and beliefs of others and can expect to have their own faith and beliefs respected.
